With thousands of charities competing for your donation,
How do you know which charity will make the most significant impact?
How do you know if the charity will put your contribution to good use?
The Giving Girls is a voluntary, non-profit organization committed to making a difference with every dollar donated. We are a proud community partner of H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and strive to create a sense of community for those in Tampa Bay affected by breast cancer. Our focus is to provide breast cancer patients with the emotional and social support needed during their difficult time. The Giving Girls will provide a network of patient advocates, deliver comprehensive educational materials, and provide access to life-altering ancillary materials and services.
About 1 in 8 U.S. women (13%) will develop invasive breast cancer throughout her lifetime. Although rare, about 1% of men will also develop breast cancer throughout his lifetime. Because of the many lives compromised, The Giving Girls will host various events, social engagements, raffles, and auctions to raise donations for those battling this devastating disease. Our charitable organization will stand with you and for you, so you don't have to stand alone. The Giving Girls believes each small contribution brings big results that allow us to stand and fight together. Together, we will triumph!
Meet our Team
Rachel Slowey was diagnosed at only 37 years old with Metastatic, Stage III Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2+) Breast Cancer. HER2+ breast cancers tend to be more aggressive and can easily spread to the nearby lymph nodes, which was unfortunately the case for Rachel. After a long and terrifying journey, Rachel emerged victoriously and cancer-free. Now, Rachel is determined to use her knowledge and experience to pay it forward by creating a non-profit organization, The Giving Girls.
Maria Reinert has worked in molecular and genomic testing with a focus in oncology for nearly 15 years. As a close friend to Rachel, and a specialist in oncology, Maria quickly assisted Rachel in understanding the complex and terrifying diagnosis.
